Aubrey Catrone

Owner & Consultant

Aubrey is an international art historian, appraiser, provenance researcher, and specialist in bespoke compendiums. She earned an MA in History of Art from University College London. Catrone graduated with BA’s in History and Humanities Pre-Law with a Minor in French from Michigan State University’s Honors College (Phi Beta Kappa). She also holds two postgraduate certifications: the Association for Research into Crimes Against Art’s (ARCA) “Art Crime and Cultural Heritage Protection” (2015) as well as ARCA and The Holocaust Art Restitution Project’s (HARP) “Provenance and the Challenges of Recovering Looted Assets” (2017).

She has dedicated her career to archival and historical research, editing, and writing, while simultaneously generating expert knowledge in the field of art crime and cultural heritage protection. Catrone specializes in Holocaust-Era Assets as well as eighteenth- and nineteenth-century French paintings. However, her projects have covered paintings, works on paper, prints, sculptures, and artifacts spanning the fourth century B.C. to the twenty-first century A.D. Aubrey’s volunteerism includes myriad projects with ARCA, the Cultural Plunder by the Einsatzstab Reichsleiter Rosenberg: Jeu de Paume Database, and the International Foundation for Art Research (IFAR).

Aubrey has worked in editing and publishing since 2013. Notably, during her time with Boston, Massachusetts’s Pucker Gallery, as the Publications and Marketing Associate, Catrone was responsible for the publication production of the gallery’s exhibition catalogues and books.
